Most AI language partners send what you say to a server. KLUG does not: its German conversations run on the device using Apple's on-device intelligence, so your words stay on your iPhone or iPad. KLUG is built this way, free to start.
Why on-device matters
Practising a language means making mistakes out loud, and that is easier when nothing is being uploaded or stored on someone's server. On-device AI keeps the conversation between you and your device. It is also a privacy stance you can verify: an app that processes locally has far less reason to collect anything about you.
How KLUG does it
KLUG's AI chat with Fritzi uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models, so the conversation runs locally on an Apple Intelligence-capable device, with German enabled. Your practice is not sent off for training. KLUG teaches German in German, is free to start, and runs no third-party ads or ad tracking. Free users do see KLUG's own occasional upgrade screen.
