Not all color negative film inverts the same way. The orange mask and color response differ between stocks, so a one-size invert leaves some rolls off. EditMe ships per-stock profiles tuned for common films, Portra 400 and 800, Cinestill 800T, Gold 200, Ultramax 400, and Ektar 100, plus a generic fallback, so each negative comes out closer to right.
Why per-stock profiles matter
A color negative's orange base and color layers vary by film. Portra renders skin one way, Cinestill 800T carries a tungsten balance and a known halation, Ektar is more saturated. Inverting all of them with the same numbers means hand-correcting afterward. A profile tuned to the stock starts you much closer.
