Carol, knitting app for iPhone
Last updated: 19 July 2026
These terms of use apply to the use of the iOS application "Carol" (the "app"), developed and published by Ferdinand Drobik under the name Nordic App Studio (the "developer").
By downloading, installing, or using the app, you agree to these terms. These terms apply in addition to the Apple App Store's general terms and conditions.
Carol is a knitting app for iPhone. It adapts existing knitting patterns to your own gauge, a different yarn, and the measurements you want, and guides you as you knit.
Among other things, the app offers:
The app is available in German, Danish, and English. It runs entirely on the device and sends none of your entries or personal data over the network. It has no accounts and shows no ads.
Carol is a calculation and planning tool. The results are an aid, not a guarantee. They depend directly on the values you enter, in particular on your gauge.
For that reason:
The developer gives no warranty that a piece knitted according to the app's suggestions will achieve a particular fit, size, or look.
As far as legally permitted, the developer is not liable for:
Mandatory statutory liability, for example for intent, gross negligence, or under product liability law, remains unaffected. Otherwise, use of the app is at your own risk.
Carol is free to download. The free version includes one project and part of the calculators. An optional one-time purchase (Carol Pro) unlocks unlimited projects, all calculators and assistants, the knitting mode with reminders, the swatch library, and backup and export. The pattern shop contains free knitting patterns; individual patterns may in future be offered there as an in-app purchase. It is not a subscription; Carol Pro is a one-time purchase and does not renew automatically.
All purchases are handled exclusively through the Apple App Store. Apple is the contracting party for the purchase. Prices are shown to you before purchase in the App Store. The app itself receives no payment data.
Management, cancellation of purchase transactions, and refund requests run through your Apple ID account and the App Store, not through the developer. You can find information on this at Apple: Request a refund.
Right of withdrawal for digital content. As a consumer, you generally have a 14-day right of withdrawal for purchases made in the App Store. For digital content, the right of withdrawal expires once performance has begun with your express consent and you have confirmed that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal. Because in-app purchases are unlocked immediately after purchase, this exception usually applies. The withdrawal and refund procedure follows the Apple App Store's terms and is handled through Apple.
All content of the app, in particular source code, calculation logic, layout and design, icons and graphics, texts, and the knitting patterns shipped with or offered in the app, is the intellectual property of the developer and protected by copyright. No part of the app may be reproduced, distributed, decompiled, or used commercially without prior written permission, unless such a restriction is excluded by mandatory law.
The projects you create, your swatches, and your own patterns remain your property. The app claims no rights to this content.
The app is licensed to you, not sold. You receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app for private purposes on Apple devices that you own or control, in accordance with the Apple Standard End User License Agreement (EULA).
The developer endeavours to keep the app functional and up to date. However, there is no guarantee that the app will be available at all times, free of errors, or compatible with all future iOS versions and device configurations. Updates may change, add, or remove features.
These terms of use are governed by the law of the Kingdom of Denmark, unless mandatory consumer protection law of your country of residence provides otherwise.
The developer reserves the right to update these terms of use. The current version is available within the app and in the App Store. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated version.
